Hello again,
Firstly, can I take this opportunity to thank the many airfields that have offered to host fly-in. Your kindness is very much appreciated.
The organising team and I have now been able to reach a decision and in terms of logistics, location and available space we have chosen to relocate the Today’s Pilot fly-in to………..
NOTTINGHAM TOLLERTON AIRPORT (EGBN N5255.20 W00104.75)
Will Flanagan and his team at Tollerton are very excited about hosting the event and have been able to confirm that the original date of June 13 is available to us.
As you may know, East Midlands Airport has recently renamed itself ‘Nottingham East Midlands’ – despite being a considerable distance from the city of Nottingham. Therefore Today’s Pilot is especially pleased to show our support to the ‘original’ Nottingham airport and clear up any confusion brought about by the name change.
As was previously the case, we are teaming up with the Aeronca Club of Great Britain to host a ‘Gathering of US Classics.’ We hope the event will attract all manner of classic US designs from Cessnas and Pipers, to Luscombes, Stinsons, Stearmans and Mustangs.
This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the maiden flight of the Beechcraft KingAir so we are taking the opportunity to invite KingAir owners to join us on the day.
Thanks to Nottingham Tollerton Airport landing fees are FREE – however visiting pilots are encouraged to make a donation to Breast Cancer Awareness.
There is plenty to do in the area, and the airport is just a three-mile taxi ride from Nottingham City Centre. There are also superb facilities on site – including a restaurant and licensed bar.
Tiger Moth trial flights will also be available on the day– pre-book your flight by calling 0115 9815050
Will Flanagan is arranging a party at the airfield on the Saturday evening, and although the fly-in will only take place on Sunday visiting pilots are welcome to arrive late on Saturday, attend the party and camp with their aeroplane. For more information contact Will on 0115 9815050
