Maybe someone can help?
I flew from Gatwick to Acapulco and back in 1990 with a Novair International DC10, G-BIXD. My notes from the time suggest c/n 45601, but this c/n is shown in the current Airliner World as the former B-GCAL which is now the eye hospital. Is there any way to check the correct c/n for the one on which I flew?
BTW, the appearance of this aircraft was doubly welcome as it was subsituting on an Air Europe charter and saving me from 15 hours on a charter 757 (I’m 6’5″ tall) with stops at Bangor (ME) and Orlando. The 757 would truely have been the flight from hell!!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Sadly it was shortly after taking off from Orlando. They sang and drunk themselves to sleep though b4 we landed at Bangor for fuel.

Love the pic.
The return flight from Acapulco was actually on Novair’s last day flying, and the flight crew reckoned probably its last flight to touch down.
The big thing I remember was the demoralised crew not caring what the pax did as long as it was not dangerous (they thought they were too old to find similar employment elsewhere, though ime the more mature flight crews tend to offer better service). This resulted in some rather drunk pax taking over the announcement system for a sing along).

EGNM, yes it is an excellent place for photos, not such a great variety as Majorca, but more relaxing.
The highlight for me was the Cygnuas Air DC-8.

Perhaps it was G-BJZD which was c/n 46970.
Incidentally Novair had a very early D/C 10, one of the first five built i think.
Seems so. According to the current Airliner World, this was G-GCAL (c/n 45601), the subject of the article and the second one built.

I know there are two air hospitals. One uses a L1011, the other a DC10.

I thought the eye hospital was an L1011? I could be wrong.

 according to the CAA, G-BIXD is a Britten Norman Islander…
