Nuclear anti-aircraft weapons

Some old anti aircraft missile likes the RIM-8 Talos ,MIM-14 Nike-Hercules ,Sprint ,LIM-49 Spartan ,CIM-10 Bomarc can carry nuclear warhead from 10-20 kt to intercept many enemy aircrafts at once and also because they are not very accurate , but a high altitude nuclear explosion can produce a strong electromagnetic pulse (EMP) that destroy electronic devices in very large radius ( 500- 1000 km )http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/cd/EMP_areas.JPG
does that mean if they use these missile to intercept a high altitude target they will fried their own electronic equipments , radars …etc

The Russian S-400 is capable of launching some nasties, isn’t it?

S-300 certainly deployed nuclear warheads as well.

You forgot that you used the word “old”. You might want to look it up in your Chinese-English dictionary. 🙂
I don’t think anyone thought about EMP in the 50s.
I don’t think the USA or Canada has any SAM sites in North America anymore….and hasn’t for 30 years.

All the nuclear-tipped SAMs were retired many years ago.

The Spartan was not an anti-aircraft missile. It was an ABM.

All the nuclear-tipped SAMs were retired many years ago.

I think the lethal radius was 300 meters, so if they just stayed out of that…

if the nuclear warhead explosive on the ground the lethal radius often be some where from 1-5 km but if it explosive at high altitude the EMP radius can be over 2000 KM
