On 11th March Lancaster NX611 ‘Just Jane’ ventured back out into the daylight in a somewhat naked form. She was to be run for the first time since Novemeber as she was undergoing her Winter servicing by engineer Ian Hickling.
All engines started with ease with a puff of smoke and less than a quarter of a turn breathing life into the aircraft and lifting East Kirkby, which as laid silent for four months, with the sound of four sweet Merlins.
Fire cover was supplied by our resident fire crew ‘Safe and Sound’ run by Steve Shirley.
The next run will be the 7 day run on Weds 18th March at around 10.00am.
Enjoy the pics below-

Ian ready to start- no sign of nerves
Number 2 smokes into action
Number 1 strihes with a puff of smoke
1 and 2 running from the wops bench
Temps and Pressures all good
The ‘naked’ number 2- nothing like a bit of Lancaster Merlin.
Enjoy.

Thanks,
Another image which could help you imagine the sweet sound
Perfectly synchronised.
Slow run, slam checks, routine mag drop, boost checks were performed and all came back with a clean bil of health ready for another season- and touch wood we will have very few problems in 2009!
