When I was a teenager I recall reading a book on avaition safety and it had a chapter on that crash. I clearly remember the way it spoke about the lone survivor, Stephen Blatz, an 11 year old boy who died the next day.
For some reason, I never forgot about him and the touching memorial to him at the hospital chapel where he was taken.

He sounds like a typical American boy in the 50s.
A few months ago, I stumbled across an article about the crash on wiki and wondered if the New York papers would cover the 50th anniversary.
They did more than I would have thought.
