Reading and seeing how some can pass off even non-aviation rubbish as exceedingly rare WW2 period “super famous” airplane parts, is a good read at how people can become self proclaimed experts (shades of TIGHAR). Not directly aviation related, but I think a good parallel lesson on fake stuff.
Last paragraphs about how owners of Fake stuff seriously think its real and do not believe actual experts.
