(Off topic) Ted Briggs

Yes, I know this is an aviation forum, but let’s be generous and doff our hats in memory of Ted Briggs, the last survivor (there were only two others) of the sinking of HMS Hood in 1941, who died over the weekend.
His account of the final moments of the Hood is a classic, spine-chilling in its understatement.

God rest his soul and with all his shipmates finally.

An event of epic proportions that hopefully we don’t ever see the like of again.

RIP Ted

R.I.P

I saw an interview with him and he filled up with tears talking about the officer who stepped aside to let him get out.

In world that freely declares David Beckham, Wayne Rooney et al to be “heroes”, this guy and people like him stand tall and make me feel ever so humble.

God rest his soul, Rest in Peace Ted,

My Uncle witnessed that horror, he was aboard HMS Prince of Wales when the Hood went up,

It would be nice to think Ted will be re-united with his lost shipmates, all together in a greater place ,

Its a Sad Day for Britain, one of the Last of the Greatest crews that served the Royal Navy
🙁

the Men are gone , but they will never be forgotten,

We will remember them
