Off Topic – U48 – "A war ghost returns…" Goodwin Sands (1978 memories)

Apologies mods., if this seems unworthy here – but the recent interest in the Goodwin Sands reminded me of the lurid but evocative “War Ghost Returns” 1978 headline in the Daily Mirror, as U48’s conning tower reappeared on the Goodwins.

Somewhere in the newspaper I seem to remember a lovely cartoon with some very elderly white beaded uBoat men on a uBoat conning tower with binoculars, one saying “Zee British, Haf Zay Gone?”

Um … ok, I’m outa here… but here’s a link for those who might also relish the memory:

Interestinga rticle – it does make you wonder how much remains – and what else is still out there, waiting to be discovered.
