Just a question—
The FG-1D Corsair G-BXUL has went to Wanaka in New Zealand for the show in April this year.
Does anyone know if it will return to Duxford?

He nearly had a mid-air with a Dreidecker, though! 😀
Nice pix!

Non of us are…unless someone out there knows something.
I hear the yak is on for wanaka this year…I guess with the poly’s being sold, the russian part of the show is somewhat heavier…
Anyone read the book out on sir Tim yet??

I’m sure Ray is not getting any younger.

is Ray Hanna retiring or something? the only reason i say this is that its mentioned on hte legends 2005 dvd that it may be his last legends, and also due to the fact that ofmc have scaled down thier operations over the last year or so (from what we can see anyway).
i sincerely hope he is not as he has been tremendous for the uk warbird scene, well really the world.
any gossip on this?

What’s the story with the La-9 anyway? It was newly restored, flown one season and then put up for sale. I’d think it’s one of the best and rarest planes of the collection!
I’m similarly puzzled about the lack of activity concerning Duxford’s Yak, but I heard that one had some serious build flaws and needed major revision – or something along those lines anyway
Russian plane enthusiasts are a bit out of luck, it seems…

Hi
All things in Warbirds Wax and wane – Ok there is a downturn with the UK / NZ collection but new people come along and once this happens the entheuasism seems to get fired up again – not too much to worry about the Corsair and P40 are still in NZ and I hope will remaion so –
The activity being generated by Avespecs, Pioneer and Glynn Powell will keep things bubling along nicely for a while yet I would have thought – the key will be an ongoing generation of new work and orders and getting a couple of new younger non pensioner types involved in Warbirds over there as owners and operators. The trouble with the world is that by the time you have the money to buy this stuff you are usually applying for a seniors card !!

The OFMC P40E ZK-RMH NZ3009 was also sold to Slade it seems (unless it was only the Pioneer Aero share sold to him and the OFMC still has a share? as it’s still registered to OFMC. Can you clarify this at all Dave?).
And their LA-9 and Yak 3 are also for sale, but are based with Ray Hanna in Wanaka.

No I don’t know ‘who’ owns ‘what’ part of the P-40…as always these things are very fluid and change regularly.

Engine problem at the moment, otherwise it is still flown now and again.

Will it be at…? 😀

But do they still fly with it?

I believe James Slade actually purchased the Corsair from the OFMC after its arrival in New Zealand. To the best of my knowlege, it’s now part of the Old Stick & Rudder Company collection at the Hood Aerodrome in Waiarapa.
