OFMC – Mark Hanna.

Having seen another post mentioning The Old FLying Machine Company. I remembered a web page that I still havent been able to finish.

I had done a web page on East Fortune and at the bottom of the page had written a short dedication to him. I only ever saw him fly twice and feel that the airshow world is not the same place without his flying skills or any of the other pilots killed for that matter.

Would it be possible for someone to check over what has been written and then let me know if everything is correct. I had to read a few old magazines and a few websites for the details So I m not sure about the content being correct. Also if someone out there has one. I am still looking for as photograph of Mark Hanna to put on my website I have tried a few places but other than ripping off someone elses website I cant get one so far. So if anyone has an un copyrighted photo I would love to here from you. That means it must be your own work. And you would aggree to me putting it on my website with your name as copyright.

Thanks guys and girls.

almost forgot the site address is http://members.lycos.co.uk/esar

and follow the airfield link then the East Fortune Link and them go to the bottom of the page.

RE%3A OFMC – Mark Hanna.

These are all taken from various websites from around the world. The one photo i actually took was of Mark taxying in the Hunter after his display, he stopped in front of me removed his mask to allow his huge grin to escape, unfortunately i can’t get it to upload.

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

I got the picture from an article written by Mark himself about flying the Rata on the Alpine Fighter Collection’s web-site.I would guess that if you want to be sure about copyright etc,you could email them.

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

I think there is a limit on the size of the file,I think somewhere around 75Kb.You could try putting it thru the Windows paintbrush program and downsizing it a bit.Alternatively, you could try putting it up as a HTML file rather than a jpeg, which might bypass the size limit.

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

Hi Alexis

If you email the pictures to me I will post them for you. Are the file sizes below 100 kb as when I have tried to post before at 98 or 99 kb then it didnt except the post. Maybe it was just me doing something wrong.

Merlin

This is from my own collection and was taken if I remember correctly at a Great Warbirds sometime in the dim and distant past. It was certainly displayed in a proffessional manner !

Any use ?

Cheers

On behalf of everyone at OFMC, and assuming the pictures are respectful, we would be delighted to see pictures of Mark that people wish to post.

Many thanks

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

Hi Alexis,

I would love to see peoples photographs of Mark, it would make a fine tribute to a very talented pilot. I’m not sure if I have any pics as I lost most of my stuff (more accurately someone took it)some years ago, however I have great memories of many conversations with Mark over the years, shame he never got to fly his Yak 3 conversion.

Hi Alexis

I would love to see the photo of Mark whether people here agree or not. We will wait and see what the response is then if no one wants to post theirs then I would like to see it privately. Is there any chance I could use it on my site?

Regards Merlin

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

How about everyone posting a photo they took of Mark here. I have one but i will only post it if everyone agrees and that it won’t cause any upset.

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

That makes me feel old !! , I only bought it as I wanted something to read on my first ever flight as Self Loading Cargo , I think the front cover had the Pilatus (still in Swiss colours) climbing almost vertically ???

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

I believe the article was March 1983 in FlyPast. The Pilatus in question was also the cover star! It was a particularily good article by the Late John Watts

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

I have no photos of Mark, but there is an entry for him at this website which lists some of his accomplishments:

http://www.nzfpm.co.nz/wow/wow1998/pilots.htm

(Listed under “The Old Flying Machine Company”).

He was certainly a woderful pilot… I loved to see him flying around in the Yak-3 at the airshows at Wanaka.

If you like planes and want a nice picture for your desktop you could look at these:

http://www.nzfpm.co.nz/downloads/downloads.htm

(If it is not Mark flying in the Yak-3 then he will definitely be in one of the 4 Polikarpovs…)

RE: OFMC – Mark Hanna.

Theres a good article in (I think ??) Flypast from August 1982 about a chap who had bought a Pilatus P-2 with a squadron mate , at the end the chap mentioned that his mate was in fact Mark Hanna who’s father as THE ex-Red Arrows Ray Hanna . Sadly Missed.
