Hi everybody
I was going through some old flypast’s and I found an rather intriguing article.
It was about Omfc and they said they were in talks about bring an aircraft that had never been seen in uk sky’s. An information would be great this rumour is from April last year though.
Thanks regards Howard500

There is another Yak 3 on the register as well, registered to a Kent based owner, although unflown since it had an incident a few years ago.

And do the CAA not allow this? Has anyone actually asked them?
Worth noting that there have been Allison-engined Yak-3s on the UK register.
There is a new build Yak 3 on the Uk register its the light blue one it’s currently at Bentwaters for Maintance at the moment.

What’s wrong with (new build) Yak-3’s with Allison engines ?
Nothing.

…….they allow Sea Furies to fly with a more reliable engine.

Rob did by a new warbird a Stearman that made its show debut at Combined Ops 2011 at Lashenden (Headcorn) in August.

Trevor
Oh cheers for clearing that up. Must pay more attention! 😀

I have an article out of flypast that announced OFMC were planning on moving to an airfield in France, glad that never happened
Was that to get rid of the CAA off their backs I wonder? Mind you its not the normal run of events for the French to be less officous but I think they are as they allow Sea Furies to fly with a more reliable engine.

Talking of Robs Stearman ,we hope he will be showing it off up here in Norfolk at Old Buckenham soon ? Perhaps when the weather warms up , Trevor i do miss coming down to your Museum ,not been able to get down there since moving here 4 years ago ,the people that run Headcorn museum are the nicest people you could ever meet , will try and get down there on the 10th March for the special Event

Just to clarify, the article I was thinking of goes back alot further to the mid 90’s.
Whatever the type in question in 2011, it would be great to see the OFMC fleet growing again even if only by one airframe.

Someone else mentioned a Zero when this came about last year. Flypast also did an article on Rob Davies and BBD last year after he’d sold her. It said that Rob had plans to buy another warbird, but looks like those plans slowed down after Legends.

As this was a story from last year can we assume that whatever it was came to zero? Now theres a thought a Mitsubishi A6M Zero, well I can dream.
I believe they had a zero replica in the hanger for about 10 minutes. I heard they got gazumped by another collector

“…were in talks about bring an aircraft that had never been seen in uk sky’s“
I can think of several thousand aircraft that have never been seen in the UK sky.
I now suspect this is/was an aircraft rather than a type.

There was nothing real about that 190.
I think they had a picture on a wall about a mile from where they were building it, and looked through a telescope from time to time to get some ideas.
Every part looked as if it might work, but none of them ever would; not a single dimension on any part was correct.
Howard500 – could you just confirm which magazine you were reading, and the date on the cover?
Hi Bruce the date of the flypast was april 2011.

No, sorry – there was nothing worth photographing; believe me!
It was a real comedy aeroplane.
There was a large box of crashed parts associated with the project, but most of them were so small it was hard to identify which sub assembly they were from, let alone anything else!

Any more info or photos on that one Bruce, would be interested to see it!

I believe the magazine was Flypast’s January 2011 edition, which contained a feature-length article on OFMC, where it talks about this ‘previously unseen type’
