does anybody know what is happening to the ex alain de cadenet spitfire mk xvi which is in french markings? to my knowledge its been sitting in their hanger for near on 2 years and i don’t think ( i may be wrong, and usually am!) it hasn’t had its engine run. Anybody got any news on this?

Apart from the fact that what you have printed is probably libellous or slanderous Brendan is OK and a far more decent person than a number that have been known to post on these forii.
Agreed. I thought the remarks were unfair and unnecessary.
I seem to remember a couple of airshow parties where he went down rather well, particularly with the laaadies. 😎

That would be Brendan O’Brien. I don’t know him personally but his presentation style always makes him seem the typical pompous, opinionated ass that everyone avoids at parties.

Strange to try to sort out a CoG issue by using the battery (ie: something which need to be removed from the a/c each year) rather than some nice permenant lumps of lead
Why add weight when you can use existing?

The wet wing mod was not done by Trent Aero. The large battery was installed to try and bring the C of G aft because of the wet wings.

Isn’t that the same series that is shown on Disco wings now, think the girl was Celia something, she flew the L39 with Mark, and the chap was the long flowing hair/over-enthusiastic stereotypical aviator type (shades and Silk Scarf) Brendan something (also instructor for early phase of Spitfire ace on the Tiger Moth)
see, I have all of the facts, coherently presented! 😀

Someone somewhere must’ve paid out a lot of ” Money for nothing” It would seem. 😉
By the way this aircraft has the biggest battery ever shoe-horned into a Spitfire and boy is it a struggle to get it out for cap testing and charging! Huge fuel tank wet wing thing going on as well……..just an excuse for a lot of PRC! Not one of Trent Aero’s finest attempts.

I know the chap that took it into Halton originally. Indeed it was looking a bit sad back then.
Suspect it will take loads of wonga and even more TLC to get it back to what it should be (and even there some folk scratch their heads deciding what it was in the first place).
I believe there is a skunkworks at the eastern end of Duxford that could probably sort it. Just find a rich uncle first.
I,m suprised at that ,as when I was there a couple of months ago , “it looked so pretty to me” (just like it always did ) like the spanish city…..

I think the Air Show got 3 series as it was originally hosted by Hazel Irvine & another bird whose name i forget but she used to chase Mark Hanna around.

Makes you wonder who the owner would be, my odds on David Gilmour.

I guess the owner could always indulge in some “Alchemy” to fund the work 😀

Actually a harmless guess. I think hes not into flying anymore, and apparantly neither is Gary Numan. My 1st ever trip to Duxford saw his newsly painted harvard test flown, then years later it was still under a tarpaulin. Wonder where it is now?
Gary’s Harvard G-AZSC currently flies out of Goodwood with new owners, Goodwood Road Racing Ltd….see it in the air often when down that way visiting outlaws…. :dev2:

Just for info, Alain de Cadanet turned up at Duxford about June time last year (2005), if my memory serves me right, had TE184 pulled out on to the flightline, did a run-up, didn’t fly and departed. Apparently the prop also needs some work done. I’m with you on the song title wessex boy.

I have a sneaking suspicion that there is a touch of sarcasm R.e Sadsacks post, I can’t believe anyone, having seen an entire albums worth of song titles would then go for David Gilmour as the owner , surely if he were the owner it would be parked over in the dark side of the hangar, whilst he was learning to fly, etc etc ..( of course theres no dark side of the hangar ,its all dark)

I can’t believe he’s ‘So Far way’ either, he’d be closer ‘calling Elvis’.
