Ok…people who think they're aeroengineers…

I have hear this many times about canards versus tailplanes…and most of the time people are wrong because the books they’ve read are either dated, written by people that are dated, or simply have no concept in aeronautical engineering.
So, here’s a trivia…Arthur probably knows already….for a modern fly by wire aicraft with negative stability, is the tailplane pushing the plane up or down during takeoff….think hard what “negative stability” means and you’ll see why such a mistake was frequently made. Note, negative stability NOT neutral stability. If you understand this then you’ll understand why the F22 doesn’t have canards for aerodynamic reasons (there’s other reasons too, but stay focused on aerodynamics).
