A friend is finishing up the rebuild of a 1936 WACO Custom Cabin EQC-6 biplane.
Its last flight was in 2008 and when acquired it needed a complete restoration.
Should be flying by summer.

Maybe, just maybe the return of Mildenhall Air Fete next year. So i guess the planning would start this year… if it gets the nod.

39 (Luqa & Wyton) and 13 (Akrotiri, Luqa, & Wyton) sqns, were the only long term operators* of the PR.9, seems they were togther for much of their post-war life.
*58 sqn operated them for a couple of years from Wyton, early 1960s.

Strange that 39 and 13 are the first to have the Reaper. They were together at Kabrit in the Suez Canal Zone, when 13 were first equipped with the Mosquito PR 34 followed by the Meteor PR 10. 39 were a night fighter unit with the Mosquito NF 36 followed by the Meteor NF 13.
39 took its NF 13s to Nicosia early 1955 when we scuttled out of Egypt and were disbanded in June 1958 at Luqa. 69 squadron with the Canberra PR 3, were renumbered 39 at that time.
Again all taken from Ken Delves book and a little from my failing memory.

Whilst not exactly specific to an aircraft restoration . . . A significant event & definately long overdue which IS due to take place this year is . . .
The unveiling of the Bomber Command Memorial in London and in memory of the 55,573 “boys” that didn’t make it back for post op bacon and eggs . . .
* According to one news item on the subject, it it due to be completed in May with the unveiling in June. However, with the small athletics gathering taking place soon after I hope it isn’t pushed to one side & listed as other news . . .
