Hi folks,
With my scanner up and running I thought I’d post a few pics from my collection. They were all taken at shows in the mid-90’s,although I’m not entirely certain of dates. Some pics taken by me,but most by my brother Joe. These first shots are from Biggin Hill,I’m pretty sure the year was 1993 for the first 3 and 1995 for the other.
1) OFMC Hawker Fury in Dutch Navy colours
2)BBMF Lanc at rest in the twilight
3)OFMC’s Spit IX MH434 in her Eagle Squadron colours
4)Yak-52 of the Aerostars with the ill-fated Dakota PH-DDA in the background. 🙁 I remember this was about the wettest airshow i’ve ever attended, the Aerostars performed and then the heavens opened and nothing else flew for the rest of the day!

Some great photos there Ant. Lots of memories too. Just gone through them to think about how many will never be seen flying again for various reasons, quite a sobering list:
Me109G ‘Black 6’ – now in RAFM Hendon
THREE Lysanders together…
TFC’s P63
Spitfire IX TE566
Concorde G-BOAC
And some others which are unlikely to be seen, at least for a while:
The former OFMC Fury ISS
RNHF’s Sea Fury VX930
ARCo’s Bolingbroke
Spitfire IX ML417 (although maybe she’s coming back…?)
Interesting to see some historics lined up in the visiting aircraft park at the back; Devon and Chipmunk. I wonder whether, for future Duxford displays, space could be found to park them on the flanks of the flightline for such aeroplanes, to distinguish them from the spamcans and allow the public to recognise their own historic value…? Just a thought.

Thanks Ant. It is nice to have some memory of planes that are no longer airworthy such as the DDA Dakota, the Me 109, spitfire TE566, …. 🙁
Now that I have seen the P51C again, I feel that this plane should be in the air soon. Lets hope TFC can work on a miracle.
Thanks for sharing.

…and the last bunch (I can hear all you dial-up users breathing sighs of relief!)
1) Stephen Grey taxiing out for an air-test in the newly arrived P51C prior to Legends ’97,his first flight in the aircraft…
2)…Fastening the canopy prior to performing the power checks.
3)The ill-fated and much-missed Spitfire TE566 taxiing out for display with what looks like Charlie Brown at the helm.
4) ML417 and EP120 await thier turn for take off.Spot the Lysander! 😉
5) Concorce G-BOAC at Farnborough in 1995(?),being pushed back to her parking spot on the apron near the (now demolished) control tower. It’s still saddening to think that Concorde is now Flypast material. 🙁

1) Fiat G.59 I-MRSV taxiing in front of Sally B.This is one aircraft I don’t mind getting in the way of a B17. 🙂
2)OFMC Fury in Iraqi colours,taxiing past TFC’s P47 and P63.
3 and 4) Give us a wave! The BBMF Lanc taxies into her parking slot.Seeing pics of her in the glossy scheme make you appreciate how much better she looks in the satin these days.
4) Lyndsay Walton’s Nord Pingoun/’Me-108′ NJ+C11

…and now onto Duxford.I think all of these were taken at Flying Legends shows, but I can’t pinpoint which photo’s are from which years…
1) OFMC’s Corsair unfolding her wings,followed by TFC’s example.
2)Sally B going through soem checks before take off, complete with that characteristicly smokey no.2 engine she used to have.
3,4 and 5) Black 6 taxiing out for display.I think the two smaller pics are from ’95,and the other from ’97.
