As I don’t like Jets, Helicopters or Spitfires 😉 I won’t be going to Waddington.
However the show at Old Buckenham (Norfolk) on Sunday looks to be shaping up to be a good one with Mustangs, Harvards, Stearmen a Yak 11 and T28 as well as various aerobatic types etc. Is anyone planning to attend this event?

Alternatively you could visit the 40’s weekend down the road at Hardwick where I can promise a few very nice aircraft
Thanks, I shall bear it in mind for a future trip.
We’ve decided to stay close to home this Sunday, as the hot weather seems to be continuing for a bit longer.

Thanks for the info.
A friend suggested we go, and I wondered if it were worth a long trip, as we are already going to see my parents in Watton on the Saturday. That is a 180mile round trip on it’s own.
It could be a late decision.

Typical fly-in I am guessing.
Some nice aircraft and some spam-cans, loads of pilots telling the same old “There I was at 2,000 ft … ” stories, and Jimmy’s caff which is supposed to be a bit improved recently, though I can’t attest to that. I doubt if it is yet back to the halycon days of Nik Coleman and his mighty Mustang Burgers.
But a nice, friendly, grass roots local airfield on an old B24 base, hardly anything of which remains.
I can’t make the epic four minute flight as the aircraft is in bits in the hangar right now.

Heading up there on the 26th for the airshow missed it last year.
I’ve not been to that show, but am considering doing so? Is it worth a look, anyone?

Yes, and they do a rather nice little airshow too. 🙂
But that doesn’t make an ‘I’m going to an airfield and I might eat a burger there’ thread ‘Historic’, does it?
Absoultely right Mike.

….but preferably in the ‘spam can’ forum please.
Excuse me Mr J 😡
The 453 Diner is packed with memorabilia commemorating this 8th AF base and the B24 unit that operated so bravely from there.
The flightline and hangars are packed with historic aircraft (And 50-year old C172 😉 )
And even the burgers are named after historic aircraft.
The General Aviation Forum is the home for Ragwings and Chippies, with spammies allowed in as long as they behave 😀
I accuse you of Historical Forum Elitism and challenge you to a P82 double Mustang munching competition.

I bet his eyesight was so bad he didn’t even notice. Lets just hope he laundered it well!

I do prefer this Stearman however 😀
The second pic shows it in company with one of the Harvards

Yes, looks a nice aircraft, based at Monewden still I believe.

I really like this one that was part of the three ship.( pic taken at Old Warden).
Good to see three Harvards too.

It is a nice aeroplane, just lacking in horsepower in comparison to some Stearman, particularly the one that got hidden up between the bowser and the visiting aircraft.

As I said, normally I’d talk to anyone at any time but in this case, I dunno, I just didn’t.
I suppose he’s just a bloke with a Srearman on the day but I am a fan of his acting so I didn’t want to appear to come across like ” Hello Martin, I’m a big fan and love your work”. That would ‘ve been embarrasing for both.
I should of spoke though because if the truth be known I would probably just say Alright mate, nice aeroplane.

Well I talked to him both Saturday and Sunday, is he anyone special or just a man with a Stearman? Guess it all depends on how you view things.

Ah yes. I remember seeing your arrival.
I was in a Piper Arrow, G-BAIH, in formation with the Extra.Neal
Ahhh…bless her! I used to look after ‘IH when Jeremy Pemberton owned her. Lovely little ship, I hope she’s being well cared for!

I was standing on the Harvard while you were wielding poles about, looked dangerous to me!!!!!! However I thought I spotted you later by the Denny Dobson trailer, however it had vanished when I returned.

Ah ok, I recall seing the Arrow at the end of the show, some of my ‘free time’ got taken up helping out an air conditioned T6
