Old photos from late 70's – EDI, LHR, LGW and LAX

Gosh those shots bring back memories! I remember back in 1982 flying a short hop in a Western 727 from San Francisco to Las Vegas. My wife and I were the only two white people on the flight. All the others were, shall we say, Oriental gents off for a spot of gambling.

Great pics! Actually flew on that Interflug IL18 from Gatwick to Tirana/Rinas back in the 80s. The return to LGW two weeks later was by Tu134A:)

Love the CP Air and South African liverys. Miss seeing those around.

I’ll take a guess and say it was fisherman’s charter, seeing as that’s what the GLA flights were at the time. Possibly a divert or he landed at the wrong airport…lol 😀

I remember hanging around GLA as a youngster and seeing all these odd looking East German trawlermen smoking cigarettes, and wondering if they were Russian spies..

Great selection of old shots there ! What were the Interflugs doing at EDI ? Was it charters for the DDR fishermen like the ones that used to come into Glasgow … or some other reason ?
