Thought I would share these with you, and look forward to any comments…
The Flying Flea pic had me gobsmacked, as it’s genuinely signed by Henri Mignet himself. As my grandfather was at RAF Gravesend from what I found out, I have reason to believe he got this photo as he must have met the man himself! The trip was made across the channel sponsored by the press I believe.
The Dragon shot is a mystery for me – as my grandfather must have taken it as he was an avid photographer at the time, but I have no idea when / where? I’m not sure of the relevance of the aircraft’s “E9” code either?
The Mistel shots are assumed to be taken by a Box Brownie or similar as they are all quite small, and I would imagine not taken with permission. My grandfather served in France during WW2, but his actual service record isn’t well recorded during events of that time, so location of this is a mystery. I assume it was on a recaptured French airfield….
I also have in my possession a German aircraft clock which has been mounted on a mini-plinth to sit nicely on a desk… Had it years now, and it puzzled me how he got hold of it – but then seeing the FW190 in the Mistel shots made me wonder if it was removed from that?
