Old plastic kits

I thnik it was the 70’s & i think it was Revell that made them but there were 2 kits produced as a bit of a joke. The first was a Spitsfire piloted by Riff Raff & the other was a 109 but i can’t remember it’s pilot. Anyone else remember them, had them, still have them or know where i can get them? Photo’s would be good to if you have them.

Fan-bloody-tastic. I’d love to have them on my shelf! Perhaps someone could build a full scale replica of either and take it to … (that event)

They fit into the general mood of the late 60s early 70s – a curious mix of California Hot Rods, hippy culture, WW1 and WW2 nostalgia and kit bashing.

What a combination.

Seeing that Fokker Dr1-style model reminded me of an Easter Egg-painting competition I entered quite a few years ago. I painted up an egg as a sort of fictitious Idflieg character in a red-painted German biplane made out of a kitchen roll tube and some cardboard. I won! 😀

Yep, won a couple of prizes at flower shows in my youth with eggs turned into McDonnell XF-85 Goblins… A nice easy task, with a bit of silver paint and a toothpaste lid for a jet exhaust…

What disturbs me about Riff-Raff’s Spitfire is (apart from the tailwheel) how much it looks like a P-39 Airacobra!

oh my gawd…. people actually ~like~ these things !!!! 😮

There’s a certain Wacky Races/Banana Splits charm to them…

You probably had to be about 10 in 1972 to really appreciate them!

Flt Lt Riff Raff & his Spitsfire.

Have to say it looks a lot more authentic than most of those dreadful Spitfire replica/lookalikes!
