Yeah I know they where Jet2/Channel express, Jet2 was Passagers and Channel express where cargo side 😉 and are based at BOH 😀
Sent you a PM Kevin hope you get what ever at PIK.
James
A couple of corrections from a few of the posts above
Originally Channel Express was the full company name, with Jet2 only being a branding – indeed even before Jet2 were formed Channel Express flew Passengers on the B733QCs.
The name was later changed to Jet2 and there are only 2 aircraft still in “Greentail” – G-CELP which was residing mostly in STN until it’s ‘C-Check’, however is working out of EDI atm, and G-CELW the only Pure Freighter in the fleet which is based in EXT.
The company is now based at LBA not BOH.
The Channel express was using Channex call-sign it might of been doing GSM flights ,but m not sure
Referance when Jet2 fly for Globespan, it would always be “Globespan” as a callsign and not Channex, however it won’t always nessecerily be G-CELR (painted in GSM colours) that would be flying the routes – confusing eh!
Hope its of use

Great to see the 707 there Kev, the last one I saw/snapped was the Omega Air Refuelling bird at PIK a few years back…
Also nice to see the new colours XL 738, I was on G-XLAN through the week for my trip to Italy with the Scotland Team.

3 aircraft operating under Channex callsigns, none in the normal livery! (PZ, LP and LO)
Great shots Kevin.
I thought G-CELO was based at NCL again for the summer?
There are preferances to where the airframes are based, however these are not rock steady as the idea is for the fleet to be interchangable if required.

Hi oneleft,
Had a look the original Raw file it looks like I,ve managed to click on the heal tool and its copied the door handle, Though I cant recall using that tool in that picture, The only thing I did was sharpen it up a bit
Will redo the picture and upload again
Thanks Kevin

Have had a bit of time to do a closeup of the badge under the cockpit window

In the close up of the Spanish 707 what’s going on with the extra bit of door handle showing on the left of the actual handle?

Ah, why wasn’t I around when 707’s were a regular sight in our skies? It has to be one of the most beautiful aircraft there is.
Superb shots, Kevin. Nice work!
Paul
Those were the Halcyon days of aviation when the DC8’s , 707’s and VC10’s were regulars at our Airports….i’ll try to scan some of my old photos and post them here

Cheers lukeylad
It was great to see this old girl, we did in the past few years get to see some even rarer 707 transiting through Prestwick heading States side for Omega tankers , If I’m correct one was grounded due to engine problems for about 6 months at PIK , but these had to get special authority from the CAA to fly through British airspace as they had come from Asia
Some time we get the odd KC135 showing up especially if there is big military exercise going on,
