We often see on this board question like MiG-29 v/s F-16 etc. But what abbout scenarios where the two aircraft are of completelty different generation- can the old aorcraft still win. Consider these scenarios:
F-7 v/s MiG-29?
Mirage III v/s Mirage 2000?
Before you say- oh no not another Pakistani claim- think about it- why cannot Mirage III win over Mirage 2000 or F-7 over MiG-29??? History shows MiG-17 downing American F-4 and F-105 and PAF Sabre down MiG-21.
Let us look at each: F-7 v/s MiG-29.
MiG-29 would get first shot advantage- but BVR is unreliable- and the 2 would likely be involved in close combat. F-7 is smaller, lighter and more maneuverable than MiG-29- and carried AIM-9L. So would have winning chance.
Mirage III v/s 2000- after Mirage 2000’s poor Super 530 miss- what advantage does it have over Mirage III? None I am afraid.
