Just a few piccies from the wonderful evening display. A tad breezy and cold, and it was rather dark towards the end, but a good day out.
Many thanks to Niall for the loan of the lens 🙂

Edwardians in the dark anyone…
You think that was dark! It was night by the time the Pilot’s De-briefing was complete 😉

Thanks for the lovely pictures Martin.
The Jones boy is at La Ferte Alais in Paris this weekend with some of the other chaps from this forum so did not go to Shuttleworth.
Always love to see the pictures that are posted, whoever takes them. Well, cant be TOO many can there? (oops! controversial, sorry…!)
Well done all concerned. Maybe get there next time.
Always a pleasure!
🙂

For God’s sake post ’em.
Maybe soon the moderators will make up their minds whether or not an separate forum is acceptable? My poll suggests 80% of those bothering to vote are in favour.

Come on Kev, don’t you start.
You know as well as anyone that the moderators have no say on this. It is the forum users and then the webbie.
At the present moment with just a 55% – 45% split in favour of doing something about the rash of photo threads after major displays I’d suggest it is unlikely the suggestion of a photo forum will go much further. A lot of users, including many keen photographers, are happy with the way it is.

Nice shots Martin (if i’m allowed to say that!). I’ve got lots of good shots from the evening, but do I or don’t I post? 😀
I say post them Darren, this confusion should have been sorted out days ago.
Great shots Martin, wish I’d gone now, but 3 weeks on the bounce would not have well received on the home front!

Looking forward to flying the Fokker Triplane replica – a full size, faithful repro but with a modern engine. Too late for this season but hopefully at OW for the beginning of next.
Have I missed something, has the collection purchased a Tripe?

I hope to get the Magister, Falcon and PT22 to Hullavington for Great Vintage Flying Weekend next weekend.
“Who was that masked man?”
“That was HP rushing back to get the next hairplane. Tough job, but…”
Nice pics Martin. It’s good to catch oneself going: “Gee, just some more really good photos of W.W.I fighters at Old Warden again. Anyone would think they were rare or something. Oh, yes, they are!” 😀
Many thanks to all those who manage to make such things seem everyday.

Niiice pictures!
Thanks for the pictures – it was a great show so mores the pity that so many would- be visitors presumably cried off because of the forecast.
The shot of me passing under the limbo in the Maggie is particularly useful because it shows that my vertical positioning is acceptable. I always feel too close to the ribbons – your photo shows that I’m not.
The whole thing looks about as big as an ice-hockey goal until you get quite close (and at 120 mph it happens quite quickly..). We also had a slight crosswind and some low-level turbulence too.
The flour bombing and balloon avoiding (!) is great fun also.
I hope that we can polish it up to a nice tight routine throughout the season.

All the best and thanks again for posting the photos.
Weather permitting, I hope to get the Magister, Falcon and PT22 to Hullavington for Great Vintage Flying Weekend next weekend. It would be nice to meet any forum members who can make it.

Edwardians in the dark anyone…
By: Moggy C - 15th May 2005 at 09:41
With the sunset shows you take your chances.
The weather isn’t always ideal by the end of the evening, but then again sometimes it’s just stunning.
There are OW air displays that start earlier too.

Nice pics Martin. Good to see everyone again last evening.
I know it is advertised as a Sunset display, but I felt the sunset was a little early in the proceedings. Perhaps an earlier start to the air display would have helped with although it does create appropriate lighting conditions for the Lizzie. It was a tad cold and dark when the Edwardians took to the skies.
Would any of those involved in the show like to comment?
HP sorry we didn’t get chance to wash the toys, but it was decidedly cold and dark at the end. Perhaps we can get a dispensation to clean the aircraft as soon as they have completed their flying.
