For well over ten years I’ve been going to airshows but never have I left the field so late as today: nearly 10 PM! The reasons? The weather and a whole bunch of great people! 🙂 It was really nice meeting a lot of forumites today. Special thanks to Ian (Box Brownie) for introducing me to a number of them, including himself. I hope to see all you guys again on the next show!
The weather was less than perfect with lots of clouds throughout the evening, but the few moments the sun did come out (Anson/Dove, Martlet) were pure magic! Because of the bad light conditions I was using pretty slow shutterspeeds (1/200th down to 1/40th of a second) and this kinda got me in a creative mood. So after the sun had set and the field was covered in darkness I was still playing around with my camera 🙂 Below is the result. Please excuse the less than perfect focus and rather heavy grain on these, as I didn’t have a tripod and had to make do with a fence and the spoiler of my car 😀 Illumination kindly provided by my car’s headlights! :p They are a bit… different – I hope you like them!
The white “laser bolt” behind the Martlet is a tractor driving by! 😀
O yes, I took some more normal pictures too. Here is the first batch, more or less in chronological order. Tomorrow I will post some more.

These last few shots were taken with a shutterspeed of 1/40th or 1/50th of a second. Very hard to get them sharp, but worth it for the few that do come out well.

JDK, glad I could surprise you with something “fresh”. Next time I hope to take a tripod with me and get much much crisper results.

Well I thought I’d never see a ‘new’ angle on OW, but you’ve done it. I love the Hind shot in particular.
As a bonus, you’ve also impressed Mrs JDK who’s a OW aficianado, though like me 12,000 miles away from that little Mecca.
