Nice work. I do like that Sea Hurricane shot. OW is a great little venue. No ladders/windbreaks etc. It’s great when you get perfect conditions for the Old Edwardians!

very effective post-production work there. How about cloning out the mast spearing into the Mustang ! Love the de-saturated Hurri.

will G-RAID fit?

The Avenger seems to have no problem, but I’d guess the Skyraider is heavier or at least has a higher wing loading :confused: , it would be very impressive to see on the grass, but just flying would do nicely 😀

As far as Harriers go, they are not right for the usual old warden display, but do fit nicely into the military airshow once a year, it is not often that the public get to see one in its element operating from a small grass strip so for that it seems well worth it 🙂

I suppose OW is bigger than the average carrier, but doesn’t steam into wind or have arrester wires.

Mind you they do have that extension on the main available for display days.

Don’t really approve of Harriers at OW. 😮

The display on August 1st is the annual Military theme.
It will include fast jet and our own aircraft and therefore will satisfy most appetites
In the programme at time of writing will be a Harrier display but I understand will this time not be landing
If you haven’t been before you would not be alone and many that have visited for the first time are often far from disappointed.
I haven’t missed a display for 10 years and always come away with a glow.
Come and see and I am sure you will understand why so many continue to keep coming back.

It all depends what you like.

Old Warden has a cosy, garden party atmosphere.

Being small you are very close to the aircraft, and the display line has a bend in it, so you get lots of top views as the aircraft bank steeply round.

It is possible to spend the day picnicking by your car and get a better view of the aircraft than you ever will at Duxford whilst fighting through the windbreak barricades to get near the fence.

But, it really depends on the type of aircraft you like. A large part of the flying collection are inter-war biplanes. Don’t expect a balbo of Grumman fighters or a Mustang tailchase.

I’m sure we’ll all be interested to hear you opinion after you’ve been.

Looking for a 08.30 – 09.00 (mrs Fence depending) departure from Just south of Abingdon to arrive at Old Warden between 10 and 10.30 ish, will plot an extremely cunning route tomorrow morning.

Cant wait.
