From PPRuNe

”Trevor’s funeral is to be held in St Thomas’s Church Salisbury (SP1 1BA) at 1400 on Friday 13th July. There will then be a cremation service for family and close friends. Following this, there will be refreshments for all in Pitton Village Hall (SP5 1DJ).

Let’s all pay our last respects to Trevor and give Katie and all of Trevor’s family the support that they so much deserve.”

When we were approaching along the road past the college there were 3 modern light aircraft departing the airfield and they appeared to be affected by the wind and then the DH60X took to the air and also looked to be getting buffeted. On parking up on the airfield it was blustery. I do not think it was calm to start and then the wind got up. These are just my own thoughts arrived at after visiting for nearly 30 years (a beginner in some eyes) and knowing how carefull they are with these old underpowered aeroplanes. The AAIB will come to their conclusions in good time and I am as shocked as the next man with this awfull event.

OK, as we have already asked, lets keep speculation out of this please. Whether or not the decision to fly was correct is for the investigating authorities.

AAIB are anxious to trace more photos of the accident to the DH 53, particularly of the last few seconds. If you were there, or know of people who were there and have any would you please contact the AAIB. Details on their website.

I wonder if you ought to start a new thread off with this as it got lost abit on this thread.

What a shame.

It was breezy at Duxford with around 25kt, but straight down the slot. Not a massive problem for the mostly heavier a/c there. I believe there would have been something of a cross wind at OW, so it crossed my mind that it’d be hard work for some of the lighter types there.
I was sad to hear of this accident on my way back from Duxford. It just goes to show that some innocuous-looking types can still bite. It’s very sad for him and those immediately affected.
Such tragedies have always happened and he won’t be the last for sure. Safety can be a drag at times, but without the improvments seen over the years, losses would be much higher. OW also has an excellent safety-record.
I’ll certainly be offering my support by visiting OW a couple of times this year.
Per ardua ad alta.

I know this may sound wrong to some of you, but at least he died doing some thing he enjoyed.
He has also given much joy to many people who have seen him flying Shuttleworths aircraft.
May he be at peace.

I agree completely!

It is easy to forget that one can still have a big crash in a little aeroplane, especially if the structure offers such little protection.

There is a cruel irony in surviving a maelstrom of Gulf war Anti Aircraft fire, in a low-level supersonic bomber, but coming to grief in an ultralight on a sunny Sunday morning in Bedfordshire 🙁

Yes, lets please keep speculation out of it, and not follow the path of the Daily Mail, with its strong innuendo. Let the professionals do their work, and the truth will out.

CIRCUS 6, I don’t know but it is to early for speculation. I would rather we did not go down that path again but wait for the AAIB report.

I watched the Hummingbird crash in the 1980’s. Engine failure then, what now?

My condolences to the jockey’s family.

Terrible news and condolences to the pilots family. After spending an enjoyable day at ‘Legends’ this was a real shock as I heard the news on the radio driving home.

As for the Daily Mail website, I expected nothing less……
