Old Warden on Sunday

Anyone else going if the weather doesn’t stink?

After losing our OW virginity last year my ladyfriend and I are planning to visit, and am just wondering who else might be about – see who the odd people on the other end of the computer are. I shall probably be wandering round the flightline with a Box Brownie or two in hand at some point, so shouldn’t be too difficult to spot (and avoid?).

Must not forget the efforts of the lonely commentator keeping us all informed from his soggy notes.

It did rain.

Don’t worry Ollie, you weren’t alone. My mobile phone keypad doesn’t work and I got moisture behind the front element of my 100-400 lens even though I’d been very careful with keeping it as dry as I could. Mustang wings come in very handy for sheltering from storms and they’re not as noisy as sheltering under a Bristol M1C wing.

I noticed you was on your phone in some of the heaviest rain. That Mustang wing did sure come in handy. I also got some moisture in my lens and all my Ryan photos are useless but it had gone for the next display.

Andy,
I never did take that caption competition photo.

I’ll second that and I’d also like to thank You, Nick, Andy, Ian, Gordon, Darren and everyone else who has helped and made me welcome at OW during the season.

Steve,
hopefully, you’ll be around next year too.

Nothing puts off the Old Warden hardcore…
Things did get a bit damp though.

Damp enough for my storage unit in my bag to stop working.

All in all, a good show despite the c**p weather, but I wasn’t looking when the M1c went up on an air test early on – and missed it flying yet again.
Will one of the ‘pros’ post a flying shot with a bolt of lightning zapping across the black sky in the background, I wonder?
Thanks to all helpers, pilots etc at Old Warden for another entertaining and safe year.

All I’m going to say is this. My photos are crap, my equipment is crap and none of my pictures are ground-to-air, and many out of focus. I enjoy them for what they are, for the memories etc. I would not post them, ever, on a forum alive with more or less pro guys with the top end gear and experience to match. If I do post, it is alway done with a certain disclaimer of quality.

Your photos Ollie are sometimes a bit dodgy, out of focus, blurred etc. Nothing I could do better, however, I do not think EN830 has to go all the way to the other forum and be a pain in the back side there. He is just telling the truth. When you are competing/comparing with (arguably) the best of the class, you will get a knock down once in a while. If you had been at it as long as some of these guys, with the correct equipment, you would be at their level, but you are not at the moment. So keep practicing, keep shooting aeroplanes but do not expect universal approval right away. In 30 years time you might be the greatest photographer of aeroplanes, but at the moment you are not! EN830 is not a pain in the **se, that should be elsewhere, he is just telling the truth as it is right before our eyes.

Keep shooting Ollie. Keep it to your self until it is of real quality. Then post. Do not say people are having a dig because they do not like your photos, because, frankly, some of them are best kept a secret

So where does it say in Forum Rules that you can only post ‘decent quality pictures’

I cringe reading this forum at times, yes I know I can go elsewhere but some people on here are so far up their own ar$£ its unreal.

Back to topic, Best Airshow venue in the country (thats just my opinion) Looks bright and sunny although ground might bea bit damp…….Then again its a long wait till next May! 🙁

Not a bad attempt at a caption, but I was thinking more along the lines of:-

Please tell me more about your collection of flying models, I am having trouble sleeping at night.

You caught my goodside. I know sometimes i get in peoples photos but never in focus.

You’ll also find that there is more than the contents of the nearby streams to keep you occupied, there’s the added attraction of the local wildlife, like this unsuspecting soul is experiencing.

I feel a caption thread coming on.

You should take time to visit OW BtM, not only for the historic aircraft,
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c131/en830/Old%20Warden%20230906/OldWarden0242_RJ1.jpg

You’d also be well and truly at home in the Swiss Garden, plenty of ponds for you to play with.

He needs TWO wing men now?
