Hairyplane.

As you hve suggested that tomorrow’s forecast is looking very good, I suppose there is always the danger of fire when the grass on the airfield boundary is dry. This being the case, might it not be prudent for the Fire Section to liberally spray the boundary hedge to prevent combustion?

Should people still wish to watch from the other side of the hedge, I’m sure they would appreciate a sudden soaking, purely in the interests of their safety, of course.

Hairyplane,

Is it still illegal to trail grappling hooks under aircraft on finals?

Perhaps a Securitie Civile Grumman Tracker booked into the show and persuaded to ‘let go’ a little early?

Perhaps with a load of cow poo

Weather this Sunday

It is looking really good for the display! A good forecast always means a good gate so get here early. Plenty of flying before the display – arrivals, type conversions etc. plus the museum to see of course so every reason to ‘put your towels down early’. I usually have a few passengers waiting patiently for their turn, usually in the Magister.

A message for the freeloaders who plan to peer over the hedge on the approach to runway 21 –

You must be barkin’ mad to watch an air display under the approach to a live runway. Taking the risk yourselves and feeling smug about denying a charitable trust your entrance charge is one thing but what about your kids sitting innocently on your shoulders? If the unthinkable happens it could quite likely happen on your heads. This why there are plenty of little yellow notices on the road side of the fence pointing out the dangers. You simply ignore them or rip them off – an arrestable offence of Criminal Damage.

It costs thousands of pounds to put these displays on. Operating my privately owned aircraft for the benefit of The Collection costs me a fortune too. Whilst I am delighted to join in, it bugs me to see a crowd of freeloaders, especially ‘in harms way’ under my nose on finals. You are a distraction that we can do without. Please pay to come in and see the display or shove off.

Please…..!!!

Coanda,
I’d be delighted if you would post your impressions of the day. If it’s washed out, I’ll know what they are, but if the weather’s decent, I certainly think you are in for a treat and it would be good for some of us, and the collection (who do watch these pages) to know what you thought, likes & dislikes, good and bad, if it was what you expected or not, etc…

Cheers!

Albert Ross,

Did you really look down that whole list just to see what was NOT on it?

.

Of course! We all know that at EVERY Shuttleworth Pageant they try to fly EVERYTHING they’ve got, which is the same formula every year, so you have a think about what COULD fly and see if anyone knows why it isn’t there.
There are some people here that visit Old Warden more than they have hot dinners, so I was sure of an answer! 😉

When its ready and not before.

Also, why isn’t the Gladiator on the list?

Must be difficult to live on the hole in the doughnut and the empty half of the beer glass.

You do (I hope, if not, you should) know that Old Warden don’t undertake major works during the summer, unless they have to for good or unplanned reasons. So the Bristol will be ready when it’s ready, but that’ll probably be after all the other works have been done on the currently active a/c – so that’s at the back of the queue. They’ll undertake repaints in the winter, so that won’t be the case with the Glad. Of course, I’m 12,000 miles away, so I’m, interested in what’s flying rather than what’s not.

Chiz. As any fule kno.
