Had a plesant day at Old Wrden for the season opener. We had mixed weather with sun before the show turning to grey and dull conditions before brightening up towards the end of the show.
The first time I’d seen this old gal out in the sun. Unfortunately she decided not to start so we didnt get to see her taxi, but it was still fantastic to get to shoot her all the same!
Up close and personal with the Sea Hurri.
The Bristol braving the winds.
A tribute to a great man, well it all is really!
The interesting Dornier 28 giving a great topside pass.
It was fantastic to see the Cat going round the bend!
As always the Percval Provost display was incredibly spirited.
The gorgeous Hind with the Hucks starter, note the Hind’s slimmer younger brother departing in the background!
The Sea Hurri returning to the grass as something wasn’t quite right…

I must confess that I’ve trolled through the photographic section long enough to be getting a bit blase about all the great photos here (sad, but true! :o).
However, your monchrome P-40 is a blinder! Did you frame it like that intentionally, or crop it? Either way, it’s different, and a beauty1
Adrian
Thanks Adrian. I did indeed crop it that way, although I didn’t work the finish much. I think it would look much better with higher contrast, do you reckon?
Cheers, Huw:)

Huw, the wind on Sunday was a swine. I removed my lens hood for part of the display to reduce the “spinnaker effect”.
And so was the kid who kept banging into me as I was panning! Might try and get to the local airfield to practice propblur (If I can pull myself away from revision!), although they arent as beastlike as a P-40:diablo:
Cheers, Huw:)

Nice work, Huw, but you really should pick a slower shutter spped for props. 1/1250 is way too fast, it results in frozen props. Shutter speeds in the region of 1/320 to 1/400 (or slower) yield a much nicer result.
Rob
Thanks Rob, I will take this into account at my next venture. When I was reviewing the photos on the LCS screen they looked blurry, I though it may have been the blustery conditions, so I kept increasing the shutter speed to try and get sharp shots. I then got home to find the shots that had looked horribly blurry on the LCD screen were actually perfectly sharp!!! Lesson, never trust my 400D LCD screen again and shoot what I know is right to do, not following it’s misleading display:diablo:
Cheers, Huw:)

But for me the star of the show was Mr Peter Teichman and his lovely P-40 in its Red Tails film scheme!
I was thrilled as I spotted the gear come down after the display to enter the circuit!
Thanks for looking, tips and comments welcome!
Cheers, Huw
