Does anyone have any details of this project?-has work stopped, or is it still ongoing?

Thanks indeed DH for the link.
Of course there is a Wapiti of sorts with the Indian Air Force museum.
The Wapiti at least started off with DH 9a ( “Nine Ack”) Wings as a cheap and cheerful stop-gap for an over stretched and cash-strapped pre expansion air force ( sounds familiar?)
It would indeed be lovely to see one of the D.H. 9a/Westland Wapiti/Wallace family recreated in the U.K. .

So are there two Wallace reps, and if so why?
There certainly needs to be a Wapiti replica, that is a very important type that sems to be missing.

Whoops sorry!, a silly slip.
A Wallace 11 allegedly. Has anybody got the relationship ( if any) with the “Shuttleworth” fuselage to hand?
(IIRC for the film there were to be replicas of both the PV3 “Houston-Westland” and the Wapiti VII/P.V.6/ Wallace 1 prototype. )

There certainly was a Wapiti Fuselage at Hendon some years ago : it was near the Southampton IIRC.
Not a Wapiti but a Wallace and still on show.

I recall meeting a guy in the mid 80’s who was working on a film script for a “fictionalised” account of the flight over Everest ( lots of lurv interest etc.)
I think this may well be linked as flying replicas were mooted.

What’s nineteen years, it first flew seventy seven years ago!:D

The project was started by Skysport and stopped in 1989 when the funding ran out. The project is stored until a new sponsor is located.

I think its owned by a group trying to re enact the everest flight-not the collection

Work seems to have stopped on the fuselage which has been stored / displayed at the back of one of the hangars for several years now. Of course work may be ongoing with wings or engine.
Is this project actually part of the collection even, or is it just housed there?
