And for some fun and inspired by a tread on another forum i thought i would see what has happened on my birthday:
Events:
1137 – Battle of Rinago (Battle 1)
1270 – The eight crusade and seige of Tunis ends by agreement between Charles 1 and the sultan on Tunis. (end of battle 2)
1340 – Battle of Rio salado (Battle 3)
1470 – Henry V1 returns to the throne afrer the Earl of Warrick defeats Yorkists in battle. (and of battle 4)
1864 – Second war of Schleswig ends. (end of vattle 5)
1918 – The Ottoman empire signs an armistace with the aliies thus ending the first worls war in the middle east. (end of battle 6)
1920 – The communist party of Australia is formed.
1925 – John baird creates Britains first tv trasnmitter. (now look how many we have)
1929 – The Stuttgart cable car is constructed.
1938 – Orson Wells broadcasts his radio play of H.G. Wells The war of the worlds creating a nationwide panic. (little did people know sadly)
1941 – Franklin Rooseavelt agrees to $1million lend lease aid to the Soviet Union. (Battles 7)
1941 – 1,500 jewish people are sent to Belzec extermination camp from the Western Ukraine.
1944 – Ann Frank is deported from Auschwitz to Bergan-Belsan concentration camp.
1953 – Us president Dwight d Eisenhower formaly apporves the top secret document National security paper No.162.2 which states the us nucelar arsenal must be mainteined and expanded to counter the communist threat.
1960 – First Kidney transplant. (finaly something usefull)
1961 – The Soviet Union detonate the Hydrogen bomb ‘Tsar bomber’, becoming the largest nucelar device ever detonated at 58 megatons of yield. It was announced that scientists planned a 100megaton bomb but had reduced the yied so it did not break all the windows in Moscow. (not so usefull)
1961 – It is declared due to ‘violations of Lenins precepts’ that Stalins body be moved from its place of honour in Lenins Tomb and buried near the kremlin wall with a plane granite marker instead.
1965 – Just miles from Da Nang the us marines repell an intense atack by wave after wave of Viet kong forces killing 56 of them. Amongst the bodys they find the body of a 13 year old by, on him a sketch of marine positions, the ay before the boy had sold the marines drinks the day before. (another battle)
1966 – The Zodiac killer kills his first victim in Riverside, Calafornia.
1973 – In practialy the worst monsoon floods in 6 years lkills 293 and leaves 200,000 homeless and virtualy haults the Vietnam war.
1983 – The first democratic elections happen in Argentina afer 7 years of millitary rule.
1985 – Space Shuttle Challenger lifts off for its final sucsessfull mission.
1987 – In Japan, NEC release the first 16bit home entertainment system, the pc engine. (Wow power in those days)
1991 – The Madrid conferance for Middle east peace talks opens. (is there not still middle east peac talks going on?)
2002 – Jay Master Jay was shot and killed in Merrick Boulevard recording studios.
2002 – Freeview is started to be trasmitted in parts of the uk. (saviour of many a bored teenager, e4) (no thats not me as i am no longer a teenager)
2004 – A 163 metre tall radio mast in Peterborough collapses in a fire. (the first thing here i remember)
2005 – The rebuilt Dresden Frauenkirche is reconstructed after a 13 year rebuild project. (The orgional was destroyed in the fire bombing of ww11)

1900 – Ragnar Granit – Recieved the nobel peace prize in physiology or medicine. (d 1991) (wow i share my birthday with a nobel prize winner)
1906 – Guiseppe Farrina – First f1 world chapion. (d.1966) (why cant i be famous?)
1935 – Micheal Winner – British Film director
1947 – Timothy Schmidt – Bass guitarist with the Eagles.
1956 – Juliet Steverson – Britsih actress. was in Mona Lisa Smile, Bend it like Beckham, Trial by fire.
1962 – Cortney Walsh – Cricketer.
Deaths:
1979 – Barnes Wallis. (needs no introduction on here)
1979 – Donna Mussolini – Wife of Benito. (dont think her partner needs an introduction)
