Well, modern day Olympics is the playground of minor sports [bandmington-whatever- softball(?), grass hockey (hah?)]
and the playground of huge sponsors. Especially the shoe industry as Al Bandy would say… 😀

Athletics, to me it epitomises the Olympics,
The ancient Greeks didnt ride bikes, play tennis,
fire guns, play volley ball, football, basketball,
hockey or beach volley ball. They didnt have
global TV coverage, and drug tests, they didnt
have to fight with gloves on and they probably
didnt do syncronised swimming.
Throwing, running and jumping, wrestling and feeding
non Greeks to the lions were the order of the day.
I personally think the whole event is too big but that
hasnt stopped me indulging in a feast of sport.
Long may they go on!!!
