One for Mark12 – Spit FSM at Edinburgh Airport

Mark, I seem to recall you were looking for an up-to-date pic of the 603 Sqdn-marked replica that stands outside Edinburgh Airport a while ago.

I was having a nose and came up with this from, I think, a Czech site.

FSM these days. From memory, the original Uxbridge Spit was Spit XVI RW382.

Gate Guardian Spitfires

That reminds me – I was going to ask if anyone knows about the gate guardian at RAF Uxbridge. It is a 4 blade-prop Spit, but passing at 30 mph, seen through the fence I couldn’t i.d. it any further. Is it real or a FSM? Would it be worth a return trip for a piccy?

Splendid.

Many thanks Daz, I will pass this on to the interested party in the US.
