As someone who is now relatively well versed in the process of planning and procuring memorials, services and the like could you please give me a few words of wisdom to help smooth this process for me?
I plan to arrange a sixtieth anniversary service for the eleven young men killed in the 388th BG’s B-17G Skipper “an” the Kids on the Isle of Arran in Scotland on 10 December 1944. As part of this, I wish to erect some sort of lasting memorial near the crash site and to invite the surviving relatives of the deceased. I would also like to do this in conjunction with the USAF, the US Embassy, the 388th Vets Association and any relevant religous organisations.
Along with all my other commitments aimed at remembering these guys I feel that the next 11 months could pass rather quickly if I don’t plan this properly!
Any guidance, tips, etc (particularly w.r.t. to the subject of funding and the procuring of a memorial) would be very much appreciated!!
