Finally managed nail this shot at Manston. I like the way the cars in the foreground gives scale to the picture, shows just how big those 747’s really are!

cheers for that, i had looked several times and could see no markings, is the work gonna be done at Manston?
Don’t ask me! I assumed it went straight into the hangar when it arrived. Forum member Manston Airport is your local man on the spot, why doesn’t he tell us?:)

You probably mean the Australian Air Force plane that arrived for hushkitting and is owned by a U.K. owner, name escapes me at the moment.
Edit. The plane is owned by Turbine Motor Works and is G-RAAF ex N707QJ.

Whilst asking about aircarft up there, does anyone know what fate awaits the 747 that has been slowly ripped apart up there? Progress of any kind seems limited

a fellow Thanet aircraft enthusiast!
I have a question thats been bugging me for ages, do you have any idea on the owner of the grey 707 near the maintainance area. it hasn’t moved for ages!
great pic, was standing at the end of the runway with RAF fire and rescue whilst a KC135 was doing touch and go’s!

Worth checking Flightstats.com the day before if you intend making the trip down there to see if it’s operating.
Not a chance 😀
But many thanks for the information – Great shot once again

Great shot, well captured.
Do CargoLux operate in and out of Manston frequently?
Thanks for your comments. As far as I can work out they have a regular slot on Tuesdays operating as CV 7179. It’s due in around 12:30 and departs again between 14:00 and 15:00. Has operated on the last two Tuesdays so seems quite reliable. Worth checking Flightstats.com the day before if you intend making the trip down there to see if it’s operating.
