Thought I’d relate this separate from our main Stirling thread as it would otherwise get lost in the noise.
Yesterday, a small team of Project members delivered the remains of the rear fuselage of Stirling IV, LK142 from its previous home in the French museum at Vraux
This has been gifted to the Project by its previous Custodian and comprises some 30′ of fuselage plus some fuel tanks and U/c leg. As I’m sure you’ll appreciate, we are extremely grateful for them putting their faith into us and deeming us to be a suitable home for what is currently the largest section of Stirling outside of the RAFM.
More pics to follow once we have it fully laid out, but these pics should whet your appetite

Thanks Viscount
And funnily enough that’s where our new part of fuselage terminates

Visited the RAFM Hendon for the first time in around 30 years in late May 2024 and was must surprised to find the tail of a Stirling displayed in the same hall as the Lancaster and recovered ‘as is’ Halifax. To put context to the comments just made above, two images:

John, absolutely made up for you and the team on those amazing additions to the project. Well done.
As for getting anything out of the RAF Museum – I only hope you have more luck than I did getting past their stubborn narrow minded attitude!

Hi all,
Thanks for the kind words. The gentleman who had it at Vraux simply wanted it to go to a good home and instantly thought of us. I have add that this has been a long time in the Planning and it all came together with it returning exactly 79 years and 11 months after it left these shores.
At present we have no real plans for it other than for use as a guide to what we currently have in work; in the long term though it is entirely feasible that the whole fuselage could be laid out from one end to the other, if the RAFM sections are made available

Wow. Would it be possible to incorporate these sections into the greater whole and not lose their markings, patina etc?

Excellent news !

This is quite incredible John.
They are indeed very generous to encourage you this way.
Could I ask what survives (if at all) in the way of wing sections/components?
