RE: One of these days !
I’m sure i heard of a project in the Uk, which was dug out of a fire dump – surely a long job.

RE: One of these days !
I think the project you may be thinking of is an FR.47 Seafire under long term restoration in the USA.Dunno anything about progress on it or expected first flight etc,but it looks like a long job.

RE: One of these days !
No chance of a flyer then. Hasnt sombody got a Mk24 project going or was I thinking of a Seafire?
I think Hendons example should be put back to flying trim, its only ever flown about 3 times. If one of the BBMF MK19s had to be retired, it would be an ideal swap.

F.24’s survivors (all in UK):
– PK683 at Southampton.
– PK724 at Hendon.
– VN485 at Duxford.

Take the chance to savour a MK24 on the grass while you can – they want to string her up from the ceiling!
I doubt we will ever see the like again…
How many MK 24s are left?

RE: One of these days !
And Ant..I will admit I was wrong regarding the presence of the MK.24 on the Flight Line…sorry about that! I know there has been a lot of talk in previous years about getting the IWM Lancaster out of Hanger 1 and onto the flight line with the BBMF Lanc but logistics has so far ruled this out…maybe one day we will see the sight of two Lancasters together 🙂

RE: One of these days !
Ant…don’t mean to nick pick but it’s a Mk.22 that the Fighter Collection has…the main fuselage can be found in Hanger 2 behind the Beaufighter…it is very much a long term restoration project…Stephen Grey has asked that the Gladiator be made a restoration priority so I don’t think the Mk.22 will be properly worked on for a while unfortunately ~smile~

RE: One of these days !
Guys,
take a look at the rear end of this Spitfire F Mk 24.
Doesn´t it look as if the rudder came from a Seafire F/FR Mk 47?

RE: One of these days !
Nice pic as ever Philo. One of these days indeed.I don’t know if TFC have stated any sort of completion date for thier Mk.24,but it should be a great site to see.Patience is a virtue as they say…
