Looking at the recent fighter designs, I see that most current production US and Russian fighters (the F-16 being the exception) have two vertical stabilizers while the European fighters (Rafale, Gripen, Typhoon) all have one. Is there a reason why one might have a single vertical stabilizer while another aircraft with similar size and performance has two?
Just curious about this.
Thanks!
