One outcome of Obama's Russian sanctions…

…is that Kalashnikov’s can no longer be imported!

I own two Kalashnikov variants, and I thoroughly enjoy them. One is Romanian and the other is Russian. You folks that don’t like guns should come give them a try. Lots of fun. 🙂

But they would be worthless, with no manufacturers guarantee backing them…

It would be a brave man who tried to collect royalties from a guy who has a basement full of dodgy AK47 copies 🙂

It appears only to apply to Kalashnikov built AKs.

Sorry to butt in on what appears to be a private argument…but my understanding is that if any money – royalties under licence or whatever they call them now – goes back to Kalashnikov then then that would count in this matter.

If you say so. It contrasts with the views of my US colleagues, but doubtless you know far better than them.

it might just be as well not to write off my comments…

Your thoughts on this subject are well known.
The trouble with being a constant critic (some might call it beating a dead horse) is fair minded people tend to write you off as someone who is willing to avoid any kind of objectivity by repeating “facts” given to you by like-minded “activists” who only state their side of an issue while trying to paint everyone who dare disagrees with them as a nutter.

Please provide facts on NRA members firearm ownership.

If not, I can counter your unscientific anecdotal evidence with my own.

I know many hunters (as I might living in the country), none have a AK-47 or similar weapon.
Likewise, yesterday I was at a branch of one of the nation’s largest outdoor stores…looking for some casual summer shoes. They sell many firearms, again, no AK-47s.
There are AK-47s in this country but serious sportsmen don’t have them. NRA membership is generally made up of serious sportsmen and responsible gun owners, not the nutters.

I think the answer lies in Putin (aka Dobbie The House Elf.)

What is it with Russia and the world. Have we not progressed at all as a species?
All these events over the last two years suggest not.

… especially any American you happen to disagree with.

Firstly you appear to have an insight into which Americans I agree and disagree with. Well good for you.

You might like to consider that having run the European subsidiary of one of America’s most famous arms manufacturers, working closely with US colleagues who possibly had a better insight into their customer base than you do, it might just be as well not to write off my comments on the basis of your insight?

Any chance of avoiding this becoming yet another tirade against US gun laws thread. The arguments on both sides have been rehearsed on here ad nauseam!

I doubt the sanction will trouble the average NRA member greatly.

I’ll agree for the simple fact that the “average NRA member” doesn’t own an AK-47 or any semi-automatic weapon.

You never fail to let me down, always trying to maintain the UK’s stereotypes of Americans…especially any American you happen to disagree with.

It appears only to apply to Kalashnikov built AKs. The firearm is built widely by small workshops across the world.

I doubt the sanction will trouble the average NRA member greatly.
