One shot, two kills?

I was once told by an F-18 pilot (a Top Gun instructor at Fallon NAS who was dating an anchorwoman at the TV station I work at) that during the first Iraq war (1992) a F-18 pilot launched on a pair of Iraqi aircraft. According to the story, the missle missed but the two Iraqi pilots “broke formation” right into each other! And thus the F-18 guy got credit for two kills.

It is a good story, but I have never heard a confirmation from anyone on this one. Has anyone on this board heard this story before?
