J Boyle I totaly agree with your view on the 727 ….. they are still around, mostly doing freight work, Opa Locka has a large collection of them, I saw a few flying into the small Carribean airports ! …. Maybe we are getting slightly older than these airframes ??????
A couple more from that day !!!!

I hope a few make it into museums when their flying days are over.
Seeing the 727 is odd. I haven’t seen one for years and it wasn’t that long ago I thought they’ be around forever.

Wow ! Thank you all for those nice comments, makes it so much better !
VeeOne. The DC6 and DC7B both have ‘clipper’ names …. Iam sure Roger Jarmin of the Historic Flight Foundation told me that one, or maybe both aircraft, had been recently used in filming for an advert which needed older Pan Am aircraft ??? I know those who love the 7B in Eastern Airlines colours aren’t happy with the Pan Am name on the airframe ???
A few more for you below !

So, OPF or NWI? Difficult choice I imagine!;) Great photos.
The town of Opa Locka was founded by Glenn Curtis.

This was an amazing place for piston types in the early 1970s. Nice to see the old Douglas’s are still part of this airport. It lseems like the blue-cheat/no windows DC6 has ‘Clipper Liberty Bell’ in small text behind the cockpit – so I wonder if this is an original Pan American aircraft converted to cargo?
