Open Depot Days Soesterberg

On April 2-3, 2011, the Dutch Military Aviation Musuem (Militaire Luchtvaartmuseum) in Soesterburg, NL, held “Open Depot Days.” Visitors had the opportunity to visit the storage hangars at the airbase and museum restoration workshops on the main site.

Among the items in storage at the depot was a replica Brewster B-339D Buffalo in the livery of the Dutch air forces in the Netherlands East Indies in World War II.

Visitors could also tour a Breguet Atlantique maritime patrol aircraft, and see the museum’s latest restoration project, a Lockheed L-12.

Museum guides said that plans are underway to use a portion of the Soesterburg airbase site to open an integrated Dutch Ministry of Defence museum sometime around 2014.
