Open letter apology to TFC and stephen Grey

I have over recent weeks posted a fair bit of information on the projects being undertaken by the TFC.

Whilst I did this for reasons I considered were in the interests of information sharing I now consider that if I caused any embarrassment to Stephen or the TFC and its hard workers that this was entirely counter productive and I unreservedly apologise. Nobody has contacted me from either the site or the organisation (TFC) to ask me to do this.

So Stephen and TFC I wish you well with all of this and I am sorry if you experianced any pain at all. I certainly hope the fantastic work goes on and that you continue to grant the access to all of the wonderful people on this site.

This will be my last post on this site and I have enjoyed all your company over the years

John

Might be an idea to close this thread now as well before it goes off the rails as well as some other recent threads………

John’s apology would carry far more weight if he extended it to cover those individuals and organisations who have been a victim of his undelivered promises.

Regards,

kev35

Was there any need for these remarks. As far as i see it anything that Setter had said has little or nothing to do with you Kev so who are you to say that he should apologise to anyone else. I think Setter has covered the people that matter well enough.

C’mon John, why fall on your own sword? You are one of the few members here whose posts I’ll read whether I’m interested in the topic or not, because you a) know what you’re talking about, and b) express said knowledge in such a friendly and unassuming way that one can’t help but appreciate the contribution.

Will it take a public appeal by Mr. Grey himself to have you continue?

Stick around, mate.

DON’T JUMP, JOHN!

C’mon John. It’s our loss if we lose your expertise and knowledge. No-one, including I’m sure the guys at TFC, want that.

John,
Please stay on key. Your a top guy and you’ve certainly helped my enthusiasm to grow. As I see it the TFC have not asked you to do this and at least you have apologised as many people would not in these circumstances.
Keep posting.
Stewart.

Setter.

I missed the thread due to holidays and the comments generated after which have sadly made you feel you have to resign yourself from this forum.

You will be missed as your knowledge is honest and is greatly appreciated by all.

Please think again.

From the posts here they indicate that they give you their full support.
Please reconsider.

Brian.

John,
I echo the sentiments expressed in the previous posts, this forum would be a lesser place without your considered and knowledgable views.

John, if you leave the forum you are nuts. 😮

Knowing you are nuts about warbirds that’s no surprise but leaving the forum
is useless and unnecessary. Nothing you said was malicious (look at the other replies after you made your statement).

Besides, your indepth knowledge is what this forum makes so enjoyable.

So, you have no choice but to stay 😉 Nuff said.

Cheers

Cees

The info published by JP was already known to me via other “general” sources. Seems everyone knows the colour of your u/pants in this biz…but that’s OK..

I read the thread you started John initially with interest and then with growing unease caused by many of the comments made. I chose not to make any comment myself on the thread because I sensed the thread may upset those involved with TFC and Mr Grey too should they read it.

But throughout I noticed it was not you who made any bold or ludicrous statements of disaster and gloom. You were one of the few trying to contain the furore of unwarranted speculation and backlash that had erupted from those who should know better. Whether or not it was potentially harming the sale/swap process, most of it was well out of proportion and beyond speculation – taking a glimmer of a rumour and seeing how far they could run with it is how it read to me.

All I want to say is you have nothing to be ashamed of, and do not need to feel you have to resign from the forum. The way I see it, if you were hearing these rumours circulating, and TFC did not like them getting out, they need to look closer to home than someone in Australia to blame for public leaks of potentially sensative information.

Please stay, the forum will be a lesser place without you.

The TFC request for the thread to be removed made no criticism of John personally. As I read it, it was not his initial post that caused them discomfort.

John, dont be daft – we all overstep the mark sometimes – but of course dont know we’re doing it at the time – simple maths for me I’m afraid-

Did you mean to cause offence – NO, does your contribution to the forum exceed the odd mistake – emphatically YES!

Dont ****** off fella, we all make mistakes me more than most as all forum wallahs will attest –

Sincere respect.

John,What are you achieving by quitting on here,no-ones told you off or asked you to leave, seems an unnecessary case of sack cloth and ashes.
Way people are leaving this forum it will soon be a case of last one to leave turn off the light on the way out.
Anyway ,reading the reply from TFC you weren’t wrong.
To quote consul

Where’s the problem? Usual sort of FP Forum speculation followed by global debate. It is after all Winter in Blightey and we’re all suffering a lack of warmth, sunshine and airshows.

John has of course got no such excuse living in the Sunshine State however, had it not been for the initial post based upon the information that was available to him, TFC wouldn’t have made the anouncement and we would all still be none the wiser.

Don’t take it to heart John. By the way, what do you know about Spits in Syria? See you back on here and the other place once you’ve had chance to sleep on it.

Just think, we’ll be able to have several what’s in the box threads. :diablo:

Setter

I agree with what everyone above has said.

Your inputs are one of the highlights of this forum, and I have never once seen an ounce of malice in any of your posts, only pertinent information (including rumours) presented in a thoughtful and professional manner. Your thread may (stress may) have ruffled a few feathers, but this can happen when matters involving other’s business(es) are discussed by those not necessarily directly or officially involved.

In my opinion, you are focussing on a potentially negative aspect of your impact, whilst ignoring all the positives. Also, just because you start a thread does not make you responsible for the direction it ultimately takes.

Please reconsider your decision.

This is a discussion forum, after all.

cheers

Setter,
