Guys.
Myself and some of the others spend a lot of time here. Over the years maybe it has become a bit cosy and ‘old pals’, but I quite like it like that.
It is somewhere that mixes fun with knowledge, passion with enthusiasm. There is never a question that doesn’t get a sensible answer eventually. We all rub along, photographers, historians, spotters, museum freaks. Jet guys and prop men.
You two have become involved in a stupid battle. And you are using ‘our’ forum to do it.
Steve: You are a millionaire warbird driver. I think that’s great, jealousy isn’t part of my make-up (But there might be a green tinge of envy around the edges). And you spent your money on the right things.
Others aren’t so relaxed about it. Kittyhawk for one. Please continue your postings and we’ll knock back some Bombadier together in May. But for Kittyhawk’s sake (and ours), keep mention of your wealth out of it? Is that possible? And maybe one or two things you’ve posted have been meant to needle? Unecessary, you’ve needled him already.
Kittyhawk: All your other postings have been fine, and you make a genuine contribution here. I have no idea what your problem is with Steve, but the private message system was invented so that you could cuss and blind at each other all day without disturbing our comfortable tranquility. I’m sure there are a few families in China who are very grateful for his exploitation. It’s better than being a peniless peasant under Mao. Even if there aren’t, here is not the place for that discussion. Take it to the General Forum.
Both of you.
PLEASE will you cool it? Take your bickering elsewhere and expand the useful stuff.

1) I think we should suggest to Steve he paints all his warbirds in Red-Bull colours
2) The Vulcan at Bruntingthrope will never fly, it is a waste of good lottery funds
3) Spitfires and Mustangs are boring and should be banned from the new forum.
4) The Halifax at Elvington is a good thing, but it should have all the skin removed from one side and a budgie perch added.
5) We need more aircraft slung from museum roofs.
Moggy, please don’t even joke about 4 & 5, there are too many people about who are happy to take you seriously.

Doh – to slow again, after Steve’s generosity with a Flypast subscription I was going to mention how much the price of a trip in a Hunter has gone up over the last couple of years… 😀

Well Steve has definately offered many of us an interesting insight into warbird operation that many of us would rarely get. Thank you.
I do not know about anyone else but I for one feel that his sign-in name of ‘steve patterson’ is ridiculous and out of order. I for one hope that the webmaster deals appropriately.

Go buy yourself a jet that they are scrapping now… jobs a goodun.

Quite right too.
Get hold of ‘n keep in Australia!
By: Eddie - 30th March 2004 at 15:47
Also much easier to get hold of restoration projects in Australia, because of the export laws 😉

Well….
I want ‘to have worked on’ my Boomer, happy to have spent 27 years on, it, but I’d like to start in 1977 please!
It’s not just that prices have risen, but what was junk 27 yeas ago isn’t now. The trick is to spot what will not be junk in 27 years time, that is regarded so now!
So what’s wrong with Moggies point No.3? 😀

Moggy is going for the Boutros Boutros stirring stick 🙂

And you don’t even need a lottery win. Try hard work and persistance
See the Tyabb show thread for how to build a Boomer in your spare time…

No – you may then need a double roll-over to afford one!

I don’t think the real Steve Patterson should apologise for anything. It was brave of him to stick his head above the parapet at all with Mr K spraying bullets of invective at anyone who has a few £ or $ to their name.
I have no feeling of envy for those who can afford warbirds. I am glad they spend their money on keeping such aircraft alive for the future rather than buying another boat, house or car.
I hope the real Steve Patterson will continue to give us insights of what it is really like to own a warbird. Hopefully this will keep us going until we all win the lottery however I suspect large numbers of lottery winners amongst the readers of this forum could lead to serious inflation in warbird values!
PS Will anyone be at the Sun ‘n’ Fun event in April? I hope to be there.

Its been a great pity this situation occured and its disapointing that 2 people had such a clash here,We all sometimes have differences of oppinions its a passionate game loving aviation whether you be a pilot, owner, restorer, photographer, volunteer, fan etc but i don’t see why it should be personal after all we all got the same intrest.
I don’t envy you Steve i am quiet proud you chose to spend your money the way you do,i am at the other end of the spectrum as a airshow goer and as i see it we all need each other,i don’t feel you really need to say sorry for what you said Steve and don’t know why Kittyhawk acted the way he did as he had made made many worthwhile posts in the past from what i remember.
I hope this will be the last we see of this and i hope the forum can come back stronger than ever after its update,i also look forward to meeting many of you this year.

Steve,
You were completely in the right. In my opinion no need to apologise whatsoever. Everyone has a right to defend themselves but in this case we were dealing with an undesirable element with the results being there for all to see. Please keep posting Steve 🙂

Moggy, you are right.Thank you for your opinion;I share it

I agree with Hatton.
As a potential aircraft builder in the making (hey, I’m starting from the bottom !! (refer General Aviation)), I find Steve’s (the real one !!) advice and comments particularily useful, and I love Sea Furies to bits !!
Please stay and keep posting, and also keep in mind, not all Southern Hemisphere resident’s are like “him” !!
Cheers
Chris

Steve,
its a great shame about this whole affair, hopefully you will stay and see what a usually interesting and reasonable calm forum this can be. Hopefully we’ve heard the last from Kittyhawk aka ‘Steve Patterson’.
Best Regards, Steve
