In the recent programme the team went to view what seemed to be a moderately intact site. I wouldn’t mind dropping by next time I am over in Pas-de-Calais as long as the Calvados hangover permits.
Anybody have any idea where this might have been, or indeed where any visitable site exists.
I am of course aware of the two big museum, Cupole and Le Blockhaus in Watten-Eperlecques.

This is a fascinating site and continuously updated. I bought the associated books a year or two ago.

On the NCAP website (ncap.org.uk) use the view in Google maps function
Brilliant!
Many thanks for that.

Went to France in October to visit the bunker at Watten, which I have to say was very impressive.
About 20 mins down the road east of St. Omer near Hazebrouck is a very atmospheric V1 launch site in the woods. Spooky looking at the launch ramp blast walls pointing at London.
I borrowed a book from the library which I think was called ‘Hitlers V-Weapon Sites’ can’t remember author but listed all sites, their locations and current state. Very suprised how many sites there were.

On the NCAP website (ncap.org.uk) use the view in Google maps function whilst searching Crossbow images and you’ll be able to locate most sites. more imagery coming on line in the spring.

That was horribly illustrated in the programme the other night

For me the single most horrifying aspect of the entire “Revenge” weapon programme was the tens of thousands of slave labourers used in the construction, thousands of whom perished at the various sites.

Not quite the same subject but the German underground V2 factories shown on youtube make interesting viewing especially this one showing a factory in the Harz mountains complete with rocket engines lying in the tunnels.

I think that was Wizernes – La Coupole, just south of St Omer.
Correct

The converted bunker at Ouistreham – The Atlantic Wall Museum – is well worth a visit.

The building that interested me was that very large domed concete building with launch spurs coming from it (the one that the Spitfire flew below its height to get the pictures!), does anyone know where that is?

That looks perfect.

Of absoleutley no use what so ever sadly.
Quite a few years back (mid to late ninetes) I stayed in a campsite on the Cherbourg peninsula over looking the sea and it had a fair few “interesting” lumps of concrete that where launch ramp shaped and ancillary building shaped.
The direction they where pointed was Southampton/Portsmouth – I was living in that particular area at the time – and the person who ran the site said they where V1 launch ramps.
I have no idea where it was, I have looked for it on google earth in the recentish past with no joy.
