Operation Granby HP Victors

Hi all,

I was doing a little reading over the New Years I came across an article about the HP Victors involvement in Operation Granby in Desert Storm. It mentioned that eight Victors took a role in a tanker requirement. I think I know of five Victors that have sort of survived and their “Gramby”names does anyone has the complete list and their fate?

XH672 (‘Maid Marian’), Shropshire
XL231 (‘Lusty Lindy’/’Spirit of Godfrey Lee’), Elvington
XM715 (‘Teasin’ Tina/Meldrew’), Leicestershire
XL164 (‘Saucy Sal’), Charlwood – Cockpit Section
XM717 (‘Lucky Lou’), Hendon – Cockpit Section

Happy New Year

Nice to see the vid.
The first few times I saw Lindy and Tina doing fast taxi runs they both looked a bit feeble compared to XH558. They both appeared to, comparitively, just trundle down the runway.
When I saw Tina in, I think 2002, I realised I hadn’t seen one where they’d been trying before!

Hi British

Lindy has her engines dry spun on a regular basis but full engine runs only happen 2 or 3 times a year

Thanks for the info guys…

How often do they run the engines on YAM and Brunty Victors?

Every 28days perhaps?

Can’t remember my own name, most of the time, so not surprised.

Anyway, here’s the link to the video, freshly downloaded from my camera and posted just for you guys.

Windows Media Player required, file is 1.1mb, so takes a moment or two to load up even on ADSL/Cable broadband.

Yes, I know, I named the file incorrectly – but dont let that disappoing you, if you save it, you can rename it appropriately!

I think I might have a movie of Lindy on a run at Bruntingthorpe. If I can find it I’ll configure it for the Internet and post a link below.

But its 3am now, and I’m gonna switch off and watch Roseanne – so there!
