Opinions please Raindrops on flowers taken on mobile phone

Absolutely correct Bruggen 130, Photoshop is in my opinion, the best budget gadget out there, Obviously there are VERY much more expensive ones out there, but unless you earn your living from photography, then photoshop is good enough for me.

Working on the theory that a lot of a photograph is about the moment rather than the equipment I decided to have a go at taking a few photos on my now semi worn out HTC sensation phone.
It’s not the first time I have shot raindrops on flowers, but is first time using a mobile, so I was wondering what people think of them. Do they work for you?, Do you like them? Do you ever use a mobile instead of regular camera?.

Don’t know about latest, but my Samsung’s design is at least three years old and it has. My wife’s iPhone’s all have had the facility. If the camera on the phone is any good then it will have the option.

If nothing… Have a look at the camera settings and check that the exposure compensation isn’t turned down.

I wouldn’t call you an idiot Martin, you seem to be in the right place at the right time, and speaking for myself, I think you have posted some most excellent shots on here.
As I said before, as long as you are happy with them, that, at the end of the day is all that matters.It’s far too easy to be self critical, don’t run yourself down.

Unfortunately Jim the only thing attached to the phone was this idiot out in a rain storm, or as the wife would call it a Martin Ml1 idiot 😀 .
It was extremely dull so used flash on most of them, which only allowed about 15 shots before the phone died, I can see the point they are a bit dark, I lightened a couple on Photoshop in particular the last two, but the rest are pretty much as taken.

Where the pictures taken in the dark or in dull light ? that is the only criticism if you can call it that otherwise excellent photos’ :eagerness:

As Trumper says – too dark. But if there is an additional auxiliary lens fitted as well then that could have fooled the idiot proof exposure computer into making the image darker.
Use your image manipulator (Photoshop or similar) to lighten the image, although this will have a knock on effect in the shadows. There is no ‘good’ high light visible in any of the displayed images, so I suspect that you may have already darkened them (unless the auxiliary lens was not compensated for when the picture was taken) for effect.
Did you use flash? If you have no choice you could get a bit of A4 white card (or stiffened paper) and bounce light in to display the water droplets in a better light. Silver foil can also be used, but is a lot shinier and the effect might be spoiled by the harder reflections and pinpoint high light created.

Alternatively move on to something else a bit more challenging- can I suggest whiskers on kittens…?;o)

Lovely stuff.My only comment is that they do seem slightly dark but i don’t know the circumstances the photos were taken in.I had a discussion with a lady at Anglesey Abbey last weekend.I was lugging my DSLR and a big L lenses and she was snapping away with a tiny Canon point and shoot.She automatically assumed my photos would be better–not so.
In that situation unless you are really going to pixel peep, her photos will probably be as good if not better,and as ever it’s the photographer not the camera.
One day technology will be so good you will just have a way to transmit an image to a server and you will be able to do what ever you want with it later on.

Great pictures indeed and I frequently use my phone for daily random pictures – the iPhone 5 is not a bad camera for general use.
