Orange Lights

I’ve just been outside and over to the west from my position a few miles north of Worthing I’ve just watched an odd collection of orange lights floating in the sky. You could say they started in a formation and then dropped down or just gradually disappeared over a period of about five minutes.
Any ideas? It’s spooked the missus as we heard heard strange noises in the woods behind us as well! She shouldn’t have watched V.

This thread amuses me:-

http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=270724

Every few days someone starts another “bright orange flickering orb in the sky”
thread and they all get locked, with the OP being referred to this megathread.

Seen a few myself and I suppose they do surprise – and possibly alarm – the unwary.

Hah! Now is the time for the little green men to invade – we’ve no aerial defence. They probably set the volcano off, too.:diablo:

Funnily enough, I saw something similar earlier, too. It disappeared after a few seconds, though.

Can those Chinese lanterns be a hazard to aviation?

Perhaps, but probably not in the UK at the moment. 😎

As it goes 27Vet those pictures aren’t far wide of the mark. All I can say is I thought they were a few miles away and were therefore quite large.

Chinese lanterns perhaps? I had a similar experience at the end of last year.. and did’nt realise what it was until one came down on a dark deserted country road right in front of me.
