Hey there. I’m a 1K flyer on UA and have been in your situation only 1 time, so I’m afraid these things happens, but it’s really rare with equipment change like this. You were probably on an A fare, discounted First Class.

If you write UA a nice e-mail telling them you didn’t get the product you paid for, they will give you a refund (most likely UA travel vouchers) for the leg you had to fly economy. (I would guess around USD 250, but no promises…)

I’m sad you didn’t get to try the E170, it’s a great commuter aircraft!

I had really been looking forward to flying on the E170…….it seems to me that we were downgraded due to lack of passengers…….We had no problem filling up the ERJ145 and even had room for a few standbys…….pretty low thing to do on UALs part……As we boarded the flight attendent actualy asked us where the flight was going and what its number was!

Sent an email…..a real nasty one….dont expect anything will come of it……will fly Delta or American next time. Other than the plane change the trip was actualy very pleasant. Had never flown on an A320 befor……nice plane, but a little loud at takeoff. The CRJ700 was another new one for me….VERY nice………

I wrote a complaint to Thai a couple of years ago after an appalling flight with them. Up until then, the three flights I had made with the airline had always been superb and I rated them very highly. But on one particular flight, we had to endure stroppy crew members, a very limited inflight service (I recall only two drinks rounds on an 11 hour 30 minute flight) and food that was obviously nothing but animal fat in gravy.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get the free flights I was after, but I did get a letter from somebody senior in Bangkok who assured me that my comments would be passed onto the crew training department and also catering.

I haven’t flown them again since to find out if they have changed their ways.
