Last of the Essex’s to be completed and the last in operational service (till the end of the SEA war, September 1975).
She was the first USN carrier to round Cape Horn (in May 1952).
And she was the one in “Bridges of Toko-Ri”.
First carrier with the Naval Tactical Data System installed.

you don’t see too many CTOL ships in that class size other than the Clemenceau.
