Trying to get some reference material together that shows the type of infrastructure (buildings, factories, houses, etc.,) in the UK at the start of WW2 in the perios 1939-1940.
Does anyone have a (or more than one) good resource that shows images of buildings for that era.
I tried Google with
Buildings WW2
Buildings WW II
Buildings WW2 UK
Buildings WW II UK
Buildings 1939 UK
Buildings 1940 UK
House WW2
House WW II
House WW2 UK
House WW II UK
House 1939 UK
House 1940 UK
but need images of streets and shops, preferably without bomb damage (as most of them are!)
Can anyone help?
Thanks, MP.

It’s for this guy here:
http://www.simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=2151814&page=1#Post2151814
who is trying to model in 3d generic streets and houses of the period for use in the next WW2 simulation called Battle of Britain: Storm of War, by Oleg Maddox.
He is looking for reference material so he can re-create them for use in the sim.
Cheers, MP.

Some good suggestions there. If you can tell us what you want them for, we might be able to help further.
Both the Airfield Architecture books are pretty military-structures only, although well illustrated.

Try ‘The Blitz – Then and Now’ series from After The Battle – not all of the photos show bomb damage and it gives a very full picture of how buildings apeared in WWII.

All the responses are appreciated, but yes it was more the civilian architecture rather than military.
Thought that was a bit easy.

I will ccheck out the airfield book though as it sounds interesting, but yes more the the way roads and buildings and indutrial areas looked is what I amtrying to track down.
Thanks again, MP.

I think the poster is seeking ‘infrastructure’ in terms of civilian buildings, town and village street scene stuff, rather than airfield architecture.
Most book stores in a town have ‘nostalgia’ publications showing images from that area in the past.

I got a book a couple of years ago called “Airfield Architecture” I think. I don’t have the ISBN to hand though. The book had many photos and drawings dating from WW1 through WW2.
